Art, music, theatre, and more—right around the corner
In the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design, there’s always something happening on stage, in galleries, and even on the buildings of Blacksburg. We host performances, exhibitions, and events year-round, many of them free and open to the public.
So bring a friend, take a study break, or try something new. You never know what might inspire you.
Theatre has the power to change people’s lives, even if it is only for an hour or two. The audience comes to share an experience with the performers, artisans, and technicians. They live vicariously by willingly suspending disbelief and allowing themselves to be open to a realm of emotions.

Step into Virginia Tech’s art galleries
Galleries across Virginia Tech — and especially in the School of Visual Arts — offer a chance to slow down, look closely, and connect with artists and their work. From student projects to faculty and guest exhibitions, these spaces reflect the energy and breadth of the university’s arts community.
Exhibitions rotate throughout the year, so there’s always something new to discover. Here are some galleries to explore:
- Armory Gallery – Exhibitions by students, faculty, and visiting artists
- Perspective Gallery – Rotating shows and community-focused work in Squires Student Center
- Center for the Arts Galleries – Curated exhibitions by national and international artists
- XYZ Gallery – A student-run space for experimental and emerging work
Design is on display, too
It's not just art exhibitions and performances that showcase student creativity in the college. The work of our architecture and design students is visible every day — pinned across walls, lining hallways, and filling studio spaces.
In Cowgill, Burchard, and Burruss Halls, student projects turn the buildings themselves into ever-evolving galleries. These displays offer a window into the creative thinking, craft, and ambition that drive our disciplines — and make the everyday spaces of the college part of the experience.
