The soul of Hokie creativity lives here

This is where impactful ideas take shape, wild experiments are welcome, and creative energy flows through every studio, stage, and makerspace. In the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design, students and faculty don’t just learn and teach about creativity — they live it. Whether you're painting your first canvas, building your fifth model, or taking your music to the stage, you'll find the people, tools, and inspiration to make something meaningful.

Try something new and go all in

Whether you're a seasoned performer, an aspiring designer, or just looking for a new creative outlet, AAD is full of opportunities to explore, experiment, and express yourself. We have plenty of creative majors and minors, but you can also just take a class or join a club. From mainstage productions to pop-up exhibitions, there’s room here for bold ideas and unexpected passions.

Here are just a few ways to get involved and get started:

Our spaces are built for bold ideas

Whether you’re welding a sculpture, mixing a track, rehearsing a monologue, or prototyping your next big idea, AAD gives you the space to make it happen. Our makerspaces, rehearsal rooms, and performance venues aren’t just places to work — they’re built to inspire. Every corner of the college is designed to support your process, your performance, and your ambition.

This is the place to try new tools, take creative risks, and partner across disciplines. You’ll find the room — and the support — to bring your vision to life.

Experience AAD creativity, up close and from your own seat

Want to see what our students and faculty are building, performing, designing, or debuting? You don’t have to look far. From concerts and gallery openings to pop-ups and premieres, AAD events bring the campus and community together to experience the arts. Many events are free, and all are open to the public, so consider yourself invited to be part of the creative energy.
